At our 46th Annual Honor Awards Gala, OCA-DC honored APA Visionaries and presented: Leadership Award: Dr. Wallace D. Loh (President of University of Maryland, College Park); Trailblazer Award: Ms. Veronica Li (Asian Author); Community Service Award: Mrs. Betty M. Lam (Chief, Office of Community Affairs, DHHS, Montgomery County, MD).

Honoring Asian American First Responder Teams
In 2018, OCA-DC honored outstanding and notable APA First Responder Teams from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS), Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. We honored the long-term and outstanding public service of Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett.

Celebrating Leaders of Small Businesses
At our Annual Gala we celebrated the achievements of two notable leaders of small business for their high support of our AAPI community and their desire to contribute to the professional development of our future leaders. Walter Hsu, President of HSU Builders received our Trailblazer Award. George Dang, CEO of US-Asia Links received out Leadership Award. In attendance were Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett and Maryland State Senator Susan Lee. We honored the memory of our dear late friend, Maryland State Secretary of Veteran Affairs, Ed Chow, who was committed to fostering and promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce throughout his stellar public service career. We thank our attendees and sponsors for supporting OCA’s mission of improving the quality of life for the communities we serve.
